GALLERY OF MODERN ART
02/09/17 , 11:00-16:00
The Art Confessional gives visitors the opportunity to vocalise their thoughts about art. Secret views about artists or a complete disinterest in contemporary art, which cannot be expressed to friends, can be voiced in the non-judgemental setting of the confessional.
A secret love of Jack Vettriano? A hatred of Rothko? Not enough Beryl Cook in the Glasgow Collection? Van Gogh reminds you of an old hairy sponge? Jackson Pollock is a floor that needs a good mopping? Damien Hirst is an excellent pickler? Matisse should have been a tailor? Salvador Dali is like a boring guitar solo that goes on and on? Installation art is another word for skip? Relational aesthetic is an excuse to fall sleep in an art gallery? My cat can draw better than Cy Twombly? Anyone can be an artist? Squares are over-rated, yellow is too sharp, I’m scared of green…
Any confession will be heard. In response the artists, unseen inside the confessional, will issue a written penance.
